Meatball Sundae

Commodity products (the meatballs) and social media (the frosting and the cherry) don’t mix very well and the result is a mess (a meatball sundae).  Not only in business but also in daily life we also experience this meatball sundae. Sometimes you try to fit yourself in a different group and society but the spiritual/collective body of that society rejects you. Because you are sometimes a meatball, sometimes sundae. If possible, it is better to be simple but basic, like water. It suits everywhere, goes everywhere. Simple, modest but everybody needs even fights for. Anyway, I guess it is not the topic here.

There are two items and a confession that caught my attention. The items are;

• Scarcity is shifting from product to attention. (The question is shifting from “how many” to “who”)
• New gatekeepers, no gatekeepers (I hope it will bring more or better democracy and no more dark-room arrangements)

And the confession is;

• Godin confesses that his short books usually outsell his longer ones. (Our attention-span is becoming shorter and shorter. In the past it was a kind of requirement for writers to describe things and people including their psychology in full details. Books started with long descriptions but now writers are asked to describe as short as possible (instead of long descriptions of a lonely person, just say “as lonely as a dry rose”). Films should start with action or appealing parts.)
