The Three Laws of Performance

When we first indentify a problem, whether personal or professional, we tend to analyze which is the part that we have to deal first. We struggle with exactly how we should begin solving the problem in order to achieve success.

However, once we select the problem to work on and how to approach it, a new problem may pop up and replace the old one. The book “Rewriting the Future of Your Organization and Your Life”, by Steve Zaffron and Dave Logan, explain that fixing problems doesn’t always deliver the results we expect because those results are only superficial. According to Zaffron and Logan, we need to challenge ourselves to do more than just fix problems. We need to find the power to rewrite our futures. This conclusion given in the book makes it makes it very interesting for all of us, although some of us may agree and others disagree on that statement. It is fascinating because “rewriting the future” is something extraordinary and supernatural.

The book suggests that by following the Three Laws, you'll learn how you can crack the code for rewriting your future, both professionally and personally, in order to elevate your performance to levels that you never thought were possible. Additionally they explain that how people perform correlates to how the situations occur to them. How a situation occurs arises in language. Future-based language transforms how situations occur to people. Another way to say it is “There’s what happens and what you make it mean.” It’s never what happens that upsets us – it’s how we perceive what happens and how we judge what happens. It’s the conversations we have with ourselves about what that means. The three laws are:

1.      How a situation occurs, arises in language.
2.      Future-based language transforms how situations occur to people.
3.      Future-based language transforms how situations occur to people.

This book suggests ways how to make changes and improvements that were not only performance changing for the organization, but LIFE CHANGING for everyone involved in the process.
