Why facebook has so many users, so many visitors? Why is so valuable? Everyone wonder to know the other’s private life, their status information, videos and photographs. This fact makes facebook so incomparable to the other social sites. Everyone has hundreds of friends and if a company reach is a number of facebook users, they can present their products and services to their members, friends and the friends of friends. I think the other social network have no way but following the facebook method,in order to have success in their sites.
Almost all companies has an account in facebook or twitter, flicker, LinkedIn, digg, delicious.com, MySpace, netlong, etc… to promote their products, their services or their networks. The main reasons in this promotion kind are two:
1- It is cheap and almost free;
2- It has many easy reachable users;
This is obvious chance for the companies to reach as much users as they can. This is an opportunity that the companies can not avoid. The companies after understanding the importance social networks or web2. They competed to reach as much clients as they can.
Social networks are also kind of spending some "Free time" during the working hours,just to relax a bit lets say...

There exist no borders or geographical separation in social networks. So every distant place, experience or resource of information becomes “reachable” and what is most important is the "time" it reaches the target.
