Economic growth improves our material conditions in one hand but causes the problems of income differences in a society .
The result from the gap between the highest income earners and the lowest income earners cause health and social problems such as : physical health, mental health, drug abuse, education, imprisonment, obesity, social mobility, trust and community life, violence, teenage pregnancies and child well being .The outcome is significantly worse in those countries that have an unequal distribution of income.
In richer countries, a smaller gap between rich and poor means a happier, healthier and more successful population. The examples of Japan and the US are the most remarkable. As two of the richest countries in the world, Japan’s position is much better than that of the US.
For a sustainable society and environment we have to aim for a balanced growth that would guarantee equal income distribution because when we are equal we do better .
thats correct, when we are equal we do better. I thing being in almost the same position makes you understand the others problems and when you take actions your actions will effect the others because you are of the same kind, so you will not take some irrational actions, or you will be more careful on taking actions because they be reaction to those actions.
