The three laws of performance

That day in the class while the professor was explaining the review of this book he asked if this book seems familiar to others that we have done. In fact the first law: “How people perform correlates to the way the world occurs to them” seems very familiar to the story of the American guy that went in Vietnam directly after the war in the book “Switch”. It was so difficult in the beginning for him trying to improve the health of the kids after malnutrition, but in the end he succeeded with the help of some other Vietnam women. It reminds me also the movie “New in town” with Renee Zellweger. This movie tells about a girl from Miami that was appointed as administrator of a milk factory in a small city. The factory risked to be closed and many people would remain jobless. It was based on her ability and the collaboration she had with the employers that lead her to success. In the end she became CEO of that factory. Of course for some it might be just a movie but I think that the movies are based on some true stories. The following is a real one that amazed me so much. One day I was to a foundation for orphan children and the administrator was telling to me about a project they have done with clothes in order to help people in need. The way it was organized was astonishing. They gathered a lot of clothes from people, which didn’t need anymore and gave to the others, but not just giving a package. They organized a kind of shop in a warehouse. The people didn’t pay the clothes they need with money, but just with numbers they had. So everybody was getting what they really needed and not just by probability he might have the right number of trousers or coat. According to me it relates perfectly with the first law.

It seems to me a powerful book and with a positive influence to our life and organizations.
