Future Agenda: The World In 2020
One of the book reviews states that: “Future Agenda is a unique multi-disciplinary resource that brings together some of the best minds from around the globe to address the great challenges of the next decade. It maps out the major issues, identifies and debates potential solutions and suggests the best ways forward”.
It is also stated that: ‘The book provides a valuable resource for those that want to create scenarios about the future and work through the implications for decision makers today”. But creating scenarios do not mean predicting and seen how the future will be. Although, the challenges written in the book are identified by best minds from around the globe, I do not believe that they have the power of prophets. What they state in the book are only baseless assumptions mostly based on past and present statistics and development, but it does not mean that there is a regularity on them that has to be followed by the future. the book only makes us think and contribute to the debate about what is happening in the world and what are going to be the challenges of the next decade. I believe that the future is unpredictable, because we cannot talk now for the innovations or successes of the coming years as they will happen in the future. We do not have the prophetic power to see what will be invented or changed we cannot forecast the consequences that it might have in the world.
Each change that is depicted in the book is variously linked to a number of others and so they have used margin indicators to help us see these links clearly and so move from one topic to another.
YanıtlaSilwe can't predict the future but some of the points identified are also well known for the time being.Every organization should have a plan to improve these points in the time being and construct bases to withstand the challenges in the future.This book can help the organizations because despite that the issues identified are global,the steps that should be taken are in organizational level.
