This is an excellent helpful book for managers and executives who wont to improve their skills and interpersonal traits. One of the aothors thought seemed very interesting to me: As one of his executive coaching tools, he sometimes asks executives to produce a "How-to-Handle-Me" guide for his staff. This is a short memo detailing behavior, lessons from past experience, and input from past and present to coworkers and direct reports. As new hires are on-boarded, part of their welcome packet is this guide from their manager. I found the most valuable part of Goldsmith's book to be his formula for collecting feedback about others perceptions of us, and how we can affect change within ourselves where needed. I appreciated the author's continuous ideas that all of these tools have value also at home to improve our family lives and social relationships.

Hi Elda,
YanıtlaSilThanks for your post. When I first see the seven steps, I thought as you that collecting feedback is most valuable part and for my opinion secondly "express gratitude" is valuable for me. When I started to think why I choose them, I realize because of my experience. I learned the mean and forfeit of these weaknesses as an employee.

YanıtlaSilHello,
YanıtlaSilIn my opion this is a great book to advance as an employee, co-worker or manager as well as an individual, spouse, family member, or friend. The subject matter is more of the workplace enviroment. However, some of the stories are about family and self-growth.
Hi Elda,
YanıtlaSilThe idea of "How to handle me" is so wonderful especially with these bosses that are around. I think that this should be applied in every organization and should be like the personnel manual. The only concern would be if the existing staff will be 100 % honest.
