This book is a nice depiction of current trends in many aspects. It provides an insight to the future for areas of interest for the modern people.
Through this book we get to see a micrography of our own world even today as 2020 is not that far away.
The topics seem to cover everything we listen and read about in the daily news or what we as humans worry about i.e. environment, health, energy, life expectancy, the gap between the reach and the poor, euthanasia, privacy matters, pollution and vital natural resources.
Some of the developments of the technology sound very optimistic for the development of our the human kind: automated healthcare and clinical enhancement however I'm pretty sceptical about pharmafoods.
Pharmafoods trend seem to be in contradiction with the food security and local food concepts.
It is interesting that the charts show a decreas in fertility rates, increase of key dependency ratios, increase of life expectancy and yet there is a trend of men over fifty becoming parents.
Also people will seek happinees in natural life and real experiences and yet will continue to gather in big cities and dear to say being connected to the web will be disconnected from the reality, what a paradox !
I'm not certain whether the numbers in the statistics are reliable, yet I believe the book captures the trends.
All these things make you think and get a vision of the future and for some this could be a tool for decisions making.

Dear Epoka11, (Artemisa) :-)
YanıtlaSilI agree with the paradox. Personally I don't like the trend to go this way, but it is exhausting dare I say impossible to go against the mainstream.
If people create a virtual reality and most of them prefer to use it as a medium of connections between them, let it be so.
I totally agree with the ending sentence too. The better you can predict the future, the more in control of it you are.

I really like that paradox you refer to. Thinking about it really makes you realize that not all the things are as you see them, there is a lot under them.
YanıtlaSilBut guessing what the future will be makes you prepared and knowing that people tend to get prepared for the worse solves the most from the equation, they will get something they were expecting ...

Dear Artemisa,
YanıtlaSilI also agree with the paradox you mention. The part i don't like from all this, is the way how these upcoming trends are treated, creating kind of panic. It is good that we get prepared for the future but we shouldn't create panic situations and worry too much, after all "the future will think about the future" :).
Hi Artemisa,
YanıtlaSilFirstly I didn't know that you are Artemisa till I read Saimir's comment :)
It is a nice post.I believe the forecast data prepared by math and computer. The numbers were talked and they prepare some tables. Human is changing very quickly and for that reason of course there will be some deviations. This tables don't show us the future. They just show us anticipated future and for that reason we should keep our mind these forecasts to be ready for future.
