Book 9: Meetball Sundae

A meatball sundae is the unfortunate result of mixing two good ideas.

The meatballs are the foundation, the things we need (and sometimes want). These are the commodities that so many businesses are built on. The sundae toppings (hot fudge and the like) are the New Marketing, the social networks, Google, blogs and fancy stuff that make people all excited.

The challenge most organizations face: they try to mix them. They attempt to slap new marketing onto old and end up with nothing but a failed website.

  1. This was a very innovative way of expressing mistakes made by trying to do the best in the best way. Mixing things not in the same plan sometimes proves to be the most difficult thing as they would simply not go well together.
    Keeping such thing in mind may help us in everyday life.

  2. I think that New Marketing=blogs, YouTube, social networking, stellar customer service, word of mouth, niche products that may be customizable, customers seek out product because they want it

    Old Marketing=tv and magazine ads, appealing to the larger population, direct mail and spam, interruptions, a growing poor return on investment
