In his book Seth Godin tries to give insights about what happens when companies try to use social media to sell commodity products. He refers to the commodity products as the meatballs, the social media as the frosting and the cherry and he claims that these two don’t mix very well ergo forming a meatball sundae.
He outlines 14 trends which are shaping the ways in which products and ideas are sold:
1-Direct communication between producers and consumers
2. Amplification of the voice of the consumer and independent authorities
3. Need for an authentic story as the number of sources increases
4. Extremely short attention spans due to clutter
5. The Long Tail
6. Outsourcing
7. Google and the dicing of everything
8. Infinite channels of communication
9. Direct communication and commerce between consumers and consumers
10. The shifts in scarcity and abundance
11. The triumph of big ideas
12. The shift from “how many” to “who”
13. The wealthy are like us
14. New gatekeepers, no gatekeepers

YanıtlaSilWe are living in the internet era and for sure we are getting bombarded with vast of information daily. Same news get to us from whole over the world and many different channels. I would agree with you that it is very useful for us to get information on products we are interested in, as the only scarce thing seems to be time.

Godin introduces these new trends in a simple way but adapting companies to them, i think it would require kind of marketing revoultion escpecially for traditional companies.
YanıtlaSilHi Saimir,
YanıtlaSilFor each product or services there are a lot of information which we can reach just one clicking. For my opinion after I get information from product's/service's web sites, secondly I check customer feedback. In time people learn how to search according to their experiences. For example, before I make reservation for any hotel, I know what I have from companies' web site and also I know low quality features from customer feedbacks. This is my way to prevent my brain from being bombarded with mass information.
1. Hi Saimir,
YanıtlaSilThe permission asset I found also very attractive. It is true that just with one click you can find all the information and product you might need. So the concept of scarcity changing owner it is so important and the companies in order to adapt with the new trends of marketing should take all the necessary steps.
