Changing Minds

Changing the minds of other persons is an important process especially in the world of business. But this is not always simple for everyone as there are people who are more resistant in changing their minds than others as well as there are people that are better at persuading than others. The process in most of the cases happens gradually and as Garden describes in the book, change of mind comes after a period of questioning, reassessment and incremental change.
The important thing that we learn from this book is not only how to change the minds of other persons, but also how to achieve it without manipulations, through conscious changes. First of all, it is important to understand what happens during the process of changing a mind and after that how to influence that process. For influencing this process, Gardner describes the seven levers which can be used by anyone for succeeding the process.
The book is interesting and useful because it offers methods how to understand functions of the mind and in case changing of mind is beneficial, it suggests how to use strategies and negotiations for achieving it.

  1. I agree the book and the strategies are useful as in every day we have the need to negotiate and influence or change people's minds. Sameway every day we deal with resistance to change, only few of us are the early adopters most of the people are resistant to change.

  2. Surfing on the net read sth interesting and i think would be the best comment on this book:
Whatever you hold in your mind will tend to occur in your life. If you continue to believe as you have always believed, you will continue to act as you have always acted. If you continue to act as you have always acted, you will continue to get what you have always gotten. If you want different results in your life or your work, all you have to do is change your mind.

  3. It is right that the book shows some important levers to change minds and one of the most important thing is to understand when and how to use these seven levers. We should keep them in our mind and use them at the right time. For that reason we should understand our resources to take action.

  4. I agree with you when you say that it is not always simple for everyone as there are people who are more resistant in changing their minds than others as well as there are people that are better at persuading than others. The process in most of the cases happens gradually. Furthermore, the part that I find very useful in the book, that you have mentioned is "not only how to change the minds of other persons, but also how to achieve it without manipulations, through conscious and gradual changes.”
