Book 9 - Future Agenda: The World In 2020

In any look forward in time, it is clear that we try dealing with differences that may or may not be predictable. Understanding what may be predictable makes us be a step ahead. If we look to next year, we can usually identify a number of things that will be largely the same, such as the food available for us to eat, the nature of our work or where we choose to live (not taking into consideration force major). Equally there are several aspects of life that we can pretty well guarantee will change slightly, for example by being faster, slower, smaller or bigger than today: faster computers, bigger population, slower traffic, high pollution. All of these are relatively predictable – in fact, almost certain.

In this well prepared book “Future Agenda: The World In 2020”, the author Tim Jones is giving some nice information about the Future Agenda of the World based and with a look in the history. The book provides a platform for collective innovation at a higher level than ever before. As the world responds to accelerating challenges, organisations need clearer and more informed views of the future so that they can place intelligent, strategic and innovative bets

Based on the book I wanted to quote four of main certainties:

1. Imbalanced population growth – By 2020 will be added another 750 million people to planet.
2. Key resource constraints – Will see economic, physical and political shortages of key materials.
3. Universal data access – Will be connected everywhere.
4. Asian wealth shift – The centre of gravity of global wealth shifts east.

Stay well and learn Chinese if you want to have a good job in future...

  2. Dear Anri,

Taking reference from your last sentence; to learn Chinese language it remind me for an article that I read on internet about the 10 most paid salaries in USA. One of these was Afghanistan language translator, a job with 6 digit salary. Who has predicted before that this job will be so evaluated today because of the war? So I think your advice to learn Chinese should be seriously taken in consideration. I will add that even Indian language will become important in the future.
