WHAT GOT YOU HERE WON’T GET YOU THERE

When I went through the notes about this book especially ‘the 20 bad habits that hold you back from the top’, I once more realized that the most important quality to quit those bad habits is ‘honesty’, although it is not the only one. As it can be stated in short, ‘a healthy organization is the one that is open and honest enough to nip problems in the bud. Most major issues become major because the root causes haven’t been dealt with quickly and with candor and honesty.’ The most dangerous one is that dishonesty becomes our personality. Selfishness is described as the rule of the game to win and we become a part of the game drifting in the river of self-seek. Another important thing is that many people can’t get out of this river by themselves even though they realize they are drifting into the wrong direction. They need a wise and friendly hand to get them out. To find a wise and honest friend is one of the most important values to run after.

  1. I agree with your fixing regarding importance of honesty, but when it comes to bring a solution which can be general, permanent and definitive,I would like to add something different.

According to me,for instance, once a bad habit, which brings financial benefits to people, is accepted by some people in a society where the basic values and norms aren't established on strong basis,it becomes a norm in a very short period of time.Becasuse, most of the people don't want to be a permanent loser or somebody out of the circle. After that point, it is very very difficult to quit people doing in that way.It is exactly like a spreading disease.

  2. Hello
The habit i liked most was :
Changing for the better: Practicing gratitude. Marshall says “thank you” at the end of each phone call instead of goodbye. I love this! This is a fabulous way to show your respect for the person on the other end of the phone. It also sends a message to that person that you appreciate his or her words. You almost cannot overdue gratitude. Think about it: how many times are you sincerely thanked in one day? Not that many I would guess. Gratitude is a gift.

  3. Mr. Ibrahim,
Your post made me think, is Selfishness really "the rule of the game to win"? I think that in this life we should be selfish but always taking into consideration some limits, and not surpassing the limits around us. They say that the world is so small and round, so everything we do comes back to us in some other form. So we should not let our ego be harmful to the surroundings, not hurting anyone around us. Moreover, we should be tolerable, generous, respectable, honest, friendly and always try to help people in need.
