Book 6: The Dragonfly Effect

“The dragonfly effect” is the book that uses the four wings of the dragonfly as a synonymous to the four ways the author defines to explain the power of social media in achieving “a single goal”. It is incredibly true that focusing on just one thing at one time gives you more successful results. Keeping things long and asking for different things makes people lose concentration and not deal with any of them at all. Of course being part of the story, engaging, as we have seen in many books related to change, touches and influences people more and makes them care, work collectively and take action.

This book was short but I believe that it had a powerful and clear effect on many of us. It made us think and not ignore different e-mails we receive everyday but evaluate them and give our little contribution In this we can help many people’s life and as some Albanian sayings tell us: “Stone by stone makes a wall and wall by wall makes a castle”. Or “The union makes power” These old wise sayings mean that our small donations can lead to some surprising, unexpected, well done and useful things.

In almost the last part of the book I read a sentence that I liked most and I would like share: “Al Gore, former vice president and master of the viral message, has said, “If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.””….

  1. In my opinion, to get better results by focusing on one thing isn't incredible, but it is very normal. Because, you spend all your energy only for it rather than allocating for several things. In case that, you ask somebody to do something,it is the same again. If you give a clear, understanable message and more importantly ask for something small, less,it will lead most of the people to think in a positive way regarding your request and thus the result will most likely be better.

Regarding your writing's last part, I really liked the old sayings as they are very meaninful. My concern -I think, most of the people have the same feelings- is whether the collected money to help people in need are really used for them or not. But, it is better not to think too much about it as there is a fact that someone are really in need and usually we can't be sure regarding usage of collected money.
