Predictably Irrational

Actually I am very suprised when I saw the result of the people that they prefer.Actually before I had this course I didn't notice that most of the people choose the same thing like me.We can predict what many can choice but when the choices change.
In supermarket, really I was wondering why markets keep the price like 5.99, or 9.99.We feel like they are cheap but there is no big defference with 6 or 10,just psychology. This taught me that we don't always follow our logic we follow our senses. When the criteria are strickly definite we use our logic more.If they are not definite,we follow our senses in my opinion. The answers predictable but senses and the logic changes the decision with respect to the clearness of the choices.

  1. I think, thet reasons behind irrational behaviours are mostly related with complexity human brain and its working system. For example, all computer systems, programs are created, written by people, but computers do the works better (more quickly and without mistake) than people. It is a matter of thinking and concentrating only on one thing which is impossible for human being. Human brain is an excellent thing with a very huge capacity, but it also has a very complicated structure about which scientists have have found some interesting results and some of their findings are still not definitive. They continue the studies in this field in order to find new things,to reach more correct findings. In other words, to understand exactly how it works and to determine the factors affecting its working structure is a very deep issue.Beside that, there are also some factors which cause irrational behaviours, decisions such as lack of proper knowledge about a subject, trying to get the best result and slight differences among the choices, etc.

  3. The irrationality is one of the best thing we humans have. Its in the book and in life also. The book points out only what we all know but do not see. Instincts can drive the choices....

  4. Hi Ismail

In this book, the author tries to help us reshape the concept of what makes the people around us make the choices. Describing several experiments, the phenomenon of people making the same mistakes time and again in predictable ways is explored, such as buying warranties they do not need.
