The book of Howard Gardner was very impressive firstly for the idea of understanding that human intelligence is multiple. I believe that this theory has mostly helped and opened the eyes of educators, understanding children’s different kind of intelligence makes it easier to develop their talents and abilities, as we know teaching is also about changing and shaping people's minds. Identifying and educating the people after recognizing their intelligence make them better developed professionals in their talented skills area. Since a business does not need only mathematical intelligence to perform well. People with different visions or skills, with these presented different kind of intelligence, can help an organization to make good profit and solve various problems any businesses face.
Two of the varieties of intelligence that I found really strange were: Interpersonal intelligence, the capacity to understand the goals, motivations and desires of others. This allows people to work effectively with others. In this case, interpersonal intelligence can be found on the educators, salespeople and political leaders, all have well developed inter-intelligence. And the other is Intrapersonal intelligence, the capacity to understand ourselves, to appreciate the feelings, fears and motivations. I had never thought about this one.
The author discusses how minds change, how intelligence works and what factors influence people’s thinking. He explains the seven factors that help to succeed in changing minds. He believes that it is more likely to succeed in changing minds when you are telling the truth, when you are an example, a part, of what you are trying to make people do. Dramatic, motivating and embarrassing stories are also seen to click and work well. He says that “simple stories work best". He gives an explanation of what exactly happens when you try to change someone's mind, how it can gradually happen and why it remains still so difficult...
Dear Erisa
YanıtlaSilI absolutely agree with Gardner that it is more likely to succeed in changing minds when you are telling the truth, when you are an example, a part of what you are trying to make people do.Even toddlers let alone grown up people can understand and feel if you are not honest in your words or if your words do not coincide with your actions. If you ask a person not to throw rubbish outside but do it yourself even in secret you will NEVER be able to influence anybody.Educators by all means have a leading part in changing people's minds.I truly believe that a teacher has no right to ask improvement from his students if he/she does not improve himself/herself.
