Changing Minds

1. Changing Minds

Howard Gardner

Every body of us has experienced either in the professional life or in the personal life how difficult is to convince your partners or possible clients to try to change a company’s culture, or any of us when we had tried to heal a rift with a friend.

Minds are very hard to change!!!

So many aspects of our life are oriented toward changing and you realize it only when you face it!

Whether we are trying to change the mind a company, our relatives mind or our own, this book “Changing Mind”, I think, provides direction that can broaden our horizons and improve our lives.

I think that a change can take place only when the representative model take new forms. And As Mr. Gardner underline in his book: This requires a “teacher” (like a special agent) to engage the student/ partner/ company in a process of tearing up the existing model and reconstructing it in a new form.

But they (the old mentalities) are inhibited by an “internal resistance” or attached to the old models and sometime maybe the teacher should be prepared for either abrupt or gradual change.

So in my opinion the slow is just as effective as the fast, you have only adapt according the situation, important is the result.

    i'm agree with you
many time when we want to change ourself or our family or our company we find internal resistance in our way because some old model or old opinion prevent the way of change , because they lived many time in one system or one discipline and to go immediately and change him , they think it is very hard and risk in the same time so they try to be in the anti change team , for that i liked your conclusion , we have to take it slowly to arrive fast to last destination of change .

  2. Here, taking action is very difficult.Ideas that are given in the book made people not only to change their minds, but the way of living, treating people and changed the very essence of their way of existence. But again as you sad the slow is just as effective as the fast, you have only adapt according the situation, important is the result. We should not give up...

  3. Yes Idi,

Important is the result but also is interesting how we adapt ourselves to this situation. Here would like to mention that sometimes due to external factors we can lose the control of ourselves and for sure not being able to change any minds...then everything will come with experience how to handle things.
